I shared my top Frugal Grocery Shopping 101 tips with you a little while back and I want to take some time to look a little closer at each of the tips.
1. Stock up when something is on sale. There are things that we use regularly like ketchup. When I can find ketchup on sale and free with a coupon, I’ll pick up several. This saves me from spending unnecessarily on something when we run out while there is no sale.
A couple of things to note:
Only buy what you need or will use. It’s so easy to get into the mindset that if it is free then you should get it. This is only true in two cases.
- Your family will use it in the next year,
- You are planning to bless someone else with it.
I live in a fairly small home of 1200 sq. feet. Needless to say storage is always an issue and I have gotten very creative in how I am able to keep things. But at the same time I cannot store 100 packages of toilet paper or laundry soap. My home would easily be taken over by a large stockpile which is why I have had to reevaluate what I want to stock up on.
Things I stock up on:
Toothpaste, deodorant, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, shavers, shaving cream, feminine products, skincare – no more than 10 at any time since you can always get these free with sales & coupons.
Medicines – I will stock up if it is free, I’ll donate what I won’t have time to use before it expires.
Dry foods (rice, pasta, beans, seasonings,ect.) – I keep this to about 2-5 packages of each only because I don’t have a lot of space.
Condiments – I will keep only up to 10 at a time.
Because I menu plan, I am looking at my stock each week as I am planning to see what I already have. So I know when I am getting low to start looking for a sale. I also know when I already have enough and can skip a deal.Medicines – I will stock up if it is free, I’ll donate what I won’t have time to use before it expires.

I love the designs of Carolina Pad and I was very excited when I opened up the package they sent me for review and it contained a few pieces from their Hot Chocolate line. I love the brown, pink and orange colors together. One of my favorite combinations. But besides looking cute, they are great products. The desk calendar is the perfect size of 11″ x 18″ so it doesn’t take up too much of my desk but the boxes are the perfect size to write in them. It also has holes on the top binding to hang on the wall if you’d prefer. And finally I received the Daily planner which is spiral bound, which I love and it includes address book pages too! I like keeping everything in one place so this is perfect.
I’ve found that all the Carolina Pad products I’ve tried are fun, useful and durable!
