Right now you can get Business Week and Metropolitan Home subscriptions 100% free! You can also get a free subscription to Town & Country too! No credit card required, no bills in the mail. I currently subscribe to approx 20 magazines and out of those I ONLY pay for one, and that is All You - but trust me, if I could get that one for free, I would! (And if you were wondering, yes, that really is a pic of SOME of the magazines I receive each month!)

Since I do receive so many magazines, they stack up pretty quick. So every 2 or 3 weeks I make a trip with all of my previously read mags and drop them off at Half Price Books. Did you know they purchase your magazines? Yep! I typically get $2-$5 per trip. I dont get rich, but remember I got these all for FREE in the first place. Each trip earns me enough to pick up a crossword puzzle book for the kids, or a box of notecards I can send out to friends. :-) Take note that they only purchase magazines from the current month, unless its a super special issue that is valuable for whatever reason.

New printable coupons available! Tons of $5 off Hasbro toys. Print them up and head over to Wal-Mart or Target and get a great deal on new toys. Hold on to them until after Halloween and get a deal on a Jack-o-lantern potato-head or other Halloween-themed toys.

I'm reposting this post that I did last year...because these muffins are SO tasty and pretty healthy, not to mention perfect for the fall weather!

PUMPKIN OAT MUFFINS

My two-year-old, Kate, and I made these super yummy muffins (from the Simple and Delicious magazine) today using some leftover pumpkin we had in the fridge. Everything else we had on hand so the total cost was free for us. If you don't have pumpkin, you can get a small can for about $1.00. Everyone should try this recipe because it's really good and easy enough to have your two-year-old help!

Pumpkin Oat Muffins
Makes 12 muffins

1 c. flour
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 t. baking powder
1 t. pumpkin pie spice (we used cinnamon because we don't have this, plus I used way more than a teaspoon because I love cinnamon!)
1/2 t. salt (I omitted this because we never add salt to our baking, who needs the extra sodium?!)
1/4 t. baking soda
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 c. canned pumpkin
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. old-fashioned oats
1/2 c. raisins (again, I omitted these because I hate raisins in baked goods, feel free to add them though if your family likes them)

TOPPING:
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1 T. flour (I didn't add this because I don't like how the flour makes toppings...uhhh...floury?!)
3/4 t pumpkin pie spice (again cinnamon, and way more than 3/4 teaspoon)
1 T cold butter

Set oven to 375 degrees.

Mix dry ingredients together. Then mix the egg, pumpkin, milk and vegetable oil. Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix just until moistened. Add oats and raisins.

Fill greased muffin pan about 2/3 full. Top with yummy topping! Bake for about 15-20 minutes (15 minutes was enough for ours). Let cool for 5 minutes and then take out of pan. Yum!

Total cost: free or $1.00
